My Senstone is completely unresponsive

Normally, I do not let me Senstone completely "die" until recharging the device but today it seemed to die on me rather quickly once the red light starting flashing. I cannot identify if the Senstone device itself isn't responding to the charging station OR if the charging Station itself is unresponsive. I triple checked and everything is plugged in and connected accordingly. It has been 1 hour since the device was placed into the charging dock and there has been no development. Any suggestions? Thanks. -A

    Hi Aimee,

    sorry you've experienced this :(

did you try applying the solution above - putting it into the freezer?

  • Tamara Cline

Stuck in a loop would explain the 237 repeat/incomplete voice notes I experienced.  Freezer here we come!  Hang in there Markiyan!  If you can get this product working I have several people who have written down the name so that can get one when they are available.

    Update: Still Unsuccessful

I placed the Senstone in the freezer for 12 hours, removed the device, and placed the device on the charger for an hour. No response.

I then proceed to freeze the device again for 5 hours and then leave the device charging overnight. There was still NO flashing coming from the device.

    1. Should I try and repeat this process?

    2. Are there any other alternative suggestions?

    3. Could it possibly be the charger? I tried the charger in multiple outlets, so it should be working...but it is hard to verify since there is no light indication on the charger itself.

Thanks so much for all of your patience and assistance!

I know mine takes quite longer than the 12 hours (almost twice as long). Leaving it in the charger connected to my MacBook Pro for a while (over 2 hours) following seems to kick it back to life. If any those suggestions help :)

  • Tamara Cline

Twelve hours in freezer would have been 1a so mine was in the freezer 18 hours and ten hours on the charger. It's still a brick. Now it's a brick in a cute round white box because I don't want the kitten to steal it. Awaiting further instuctions from support.

  • Brett Schmidt

Haha good call, have two (kittens)here myself; once they see any kind of light they’re all over it haha hope the next update finally fixes our expensive cat toys 😄

  • AMG

Thanks Brett! I put the device in the freezer longer (about ten more hours). Oddly enough, there showed no signs of it working....but after checking on the device randomly hours later, I saw a blue light flashing. I don't know exactly what did the trick to retrigger the device, but I'll keep everyone posted if anything changes. Thanks, group!

  • Brett Schmidt

Hey Aimee, that's excellent! Once you see the blue light you should be good to remove it from the freezer, let it warm up for a bit (and dry any moisture off) then place it back on the charger for an hour or two. (that's what worked for mine) ... An IMPORTANT TIP .. don't charge it for more than 1 / 2 hours maximum because if it locks up again (mine did after a couple test recordings) you don't want it fully charged or it will take forever again to drain the battery haha .. I'm sure their next update will fix the issues with it freezing (locking) during sync. Hope all goes well for you! :)

    Cheers

  • Tamara Cline

Just put mine back in to the freezer. It locked up first thing in the morning after being on the charger all night.

  • AMG

Best of luck, Tamara. Fingers crossed for you!

  • Brett Schmidt

Hope ya have luck draining it down relatively quickly Tamara. Mine's taking forever as I left it on the charger WAY too long :) good luck!

  • Tamara Cline

It's still dark, but I had it on the charger all day after the first freeze. So, 13 hours so far. We REALLY need a pinhole reset for the live model. The little ones and zeros misbehave. Electronic devices lock up.

    Fingers crossed.

  • Tamara Cline

    Still nothing... :(

  • Tamara Cline

Still nothing... :( Thats over 48 hours... this is making me sad. I was really liking my little buddy with me all the time.

@Aimee, glad you got yours back to life!

@Brett thanks much for help and tips!

@Tamara so sorry yours is still a brick. After that much time in freezer you can try to put it on the charger for 30-60 minutes, that might help. But I'd like to clarify - did you bring it to life once and then it locked up again or is this same problem for 5 days?

@everyone we have recently found that there's 2 different scenarios why Senstone stops working. 1st is software, 2nd is mechanics. We'll soon publish update to prevent software lock up and we're still investigating mechanical problem.

    Huuuge thanks for your patience!

    Dead five days

  • AMG

Oh my! I jinxed myself! So the device died again on me today.

Sometimes if I step further away from the device with my phone, I need to manually “repair” the device by going into the app, unpairing the device that isn’t registering nearby, and then pairing it again.

For today, I noticed when doing this, that my battery was listed as being 100% charged (which wasn’t possible). Within that same hour, I saw my device flash red, so I checked the battery percentage which was listed at 40%. Shortly thereafter (within ten minutes), my Senstone completely died and isn’t responding to my charger. I’ll have to freeze the device again this evening with hopes of better luck.

Greetings all, in reply to Markiyan’s post; my unit locked up after bringing it back to life. It has been in the freezer now since Friday evening (approx 90 hours), the White Light continues to shine. I’ll try your suggestion to Tamara and see if placing it on the charger for 30 to 60 mins helps while awaiting the update / fix.

    A quick refresh
Day one - charger all night. I remove from charger and put on and tell it to remind me. It becomes unresponsive, but puts 237 repetitive voice bits, all with the same time that I did the wakeup reminder. I had go to work so I figured I would deal with it later.
Into the car go to leave me another reminder. It's a brick.
    Following days
Tried the freezer 16 hours, charged over night, put back in freezer overnight, no luck. Put in box a day. Back to the freezer over 48 hours...

No lights of any kind since the 237 repetitive voice clips. Did anyone else have the repetitive messages or am I unique?

  • Brett Schmidt

Hi Tamara, well you're not alone in that for sure. admittedly I haven't counted them but yeah both times now that mine has locked up has resulted in many many repetitive messages showing up in the app. with the time of these messages being the exact time that my unit locked up, i'm guessing this is a direct result of a synchronization issue. (as Markiyan indicated; being stuck in a "loop") ... Only difference between mine and yours is that mine continues to display a white light the last few days while yours doesn't but other issues seem to be identical. I'm hoping their new update will resolve this :)  (fingers crossed)

  • Tamara Cline

Whaaaaaa! My little buddy is still a brick. :^( I miss him. He was a good friend. Id tell him to remind and to make a note and magically he'd put it on my iDevice . He was a good friend... Didn't talk much, but was a great listener and paid very close attention. *sigh*

Should I put him on deep freeze again?

  • Brett Schmidt

😄 You’ll get your little buddy back. If I were you, yeah for sure I’d try the freezer again if you’ve tried Markiyan’s suggestion to place it in the charger for 30 to 60 mins then I’d try the freezer again for a few hours then back in the charger again or a hard reset / hold the button for a good 10 seconds while shaking the crap out of it 😜 hehe

  • Brett Schmidt

Update on my unit for everyone; the white light finally went out late this afternoon. Left it for 60 / 90 mins to warm up, then placed it on the charger for 40mins. Working again 👍 once paired it re-sync’d the 5 or 6 messages created last week / the week prior. Fingers crossed that new msg’s don’t lock it up again 😄 keep ya posted.

  • Tamara Cline

Little buddy is still D-E-D... :(

  • Brett Schmidt

Sorry to hear that Tamara. Hopefully they find you a solution. So far (touch wood) mine appears to continue working. After days in the freezer to drain it.

  • Tamara Cline

Little buddy "Bernie" on charger for one hour after a day "on ice."

  • Brett Schmidt

Hope it starts for ya! My unit didn’t last. It locked up mid day after 6 to 8 recordings. The App crashed and the unit has gone “dark” like yours; no lights, hard reset does nothing and no lights when placing it on the charger. Oddly enough, when it was working the firmware version reverted back to 0.0.0.0.0.1 ... likely a software issue.

  • Tamara Cline

Bummer, sorry to hear that Brett. Bernie is still unresponsive. Just like Bernie in "Weekend at Bernie's"

  • Brett Schmidt

Haha I was going to mention that when you said Bernie but seems these days mentioning any movie later than a couple years and you’re an old bugger haha ... I’m trying freezing mine again for a bit, I’ll keep ya posted on how it goes 👍
